On her poetically titled album, Chimères (KNS Classical), cellist Mathilde Reuzé approaches Richard Strauss’s Sonata in F major, Op. 6, with remarkable energy. Composed in 1881, the work is brought to life by the cellist’s vibrant intensity, supported by Alessandro Tardino’s flawless piano playing in an Allegro con brio steeped in Romanticism — or rather, Neo-Romanticism.

The young musician from Le Mans releases her debut album, Chimères. Rich in contrasts, the album is devoted to sonatas for cello and piano by Richard Strauss, César Franck and Claude Debussy — three works that could hardly be more different from one another.
KNS Classical is pleased to announce the release of Chimères, the recording by French cellist Mathilde Reuzé, joined by pianist Alessandro Tardino. This refined and carefully curated album brings together three masterworks from the late Romantic and early modern repertoire, offering listeners a compelling journey through imagination, lyricism and contrast.
Mathilde Reuzé, a cellist of wide-ranging curiosity and cultural depth, is known for her engagement with historical performance, contemporary creation, and interdisciplinary approaches. A laureate of numerous international competitions, she has recently performed as a soloist with the Kammerorchester Basel and is currently a member of the Jaroussky Academy. Alessandro Tardino, a sensitive and experienced chamber musician, brings clarity and nuance to each of these complex scores.
