Biography
Mathilde was born in 2001 in Le Mans (France), into a family of musicians.
From a very young age, the cello came to her in a natural, but also surprising way: at only three years old, she listened to a Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach in concert and chose this instrument as her traveling companion.
After studying with Marie-Thérèse Grisenti at the Cachan Conservatory, she continued her training at the CNSMD in Paris, where she obtained her Bachelor in the class of Raphaël Pidoux, Eric-Maria Couturier and Véronique Marin. She also benefits from the advice of Jérôme Pernoo, Sol Gabetta, Maximilian Hornung, David Geringas, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Dénes Várjon and Thomas Demenga.
In 2025, she obtained a Master's degree in performance at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel, in the class of Rafael Rosenfeld and Guillermo Pastrana. She also deepened her practice of chamber music with Anna Gebert, Anton Kernjak, Jiří Němeček and Zoltán Fejérvári.
Winner of several international competitions, she is notably:
-
semi-finalist of the Leipzig International Bach Competition and the Bratislava International Competition (2024),
-
2nd prize and special prize at the International Competition of the Vienna Academy,
-
3rd prize and special Irène Dénéréaz prize at the Geneva Junior Competition
-
Grand Prix at the Music&Star Awards in Girona (2023).
Passionate about music in all its forms, Mathilde expands her universe beyond the classical repertoire.
She explores the contemporary repertoire by collaborating with composers such as Jörg Widmann, Roland Moser, Thierry Escaich, Eric Lebrun, Jason Meyer, Christine Jeandroz (whose album Visions she participated in recording in 2017) and Ivane Béatrice Bellocq.
